Mamey is also found in many parts of Latin America and is about 4 to 10 inches long and 3 to 5 inches wide with colors of the flesh ranging in color from pink to orange to even red. The fruit has a rough and dull look and feel to it but never judge this fruit by its “cover.” Some consider this fruit to be an aphrodisiac. It can be eaten raw or blended into milkshakes, smoothies, ice creams and can also be sued to produce marmalade or jelly. Mamey has an excellent source of vitamin B6 and vitamin C, and is a good source of riboflavin, niacin, vitamin E, manganese, potassium and dietary fiber.
